Hello Current Players, Parents and Incoming Freshman:

Jerry wanted us to provide you the April and May Schedule for Open Gym Workouts, pre-summer tryouts and ask for an RSVP for all 4 weekends in June this summer to begin engaging everyone to “save the date” and RSVP for our summer Camps. More information on costs will be provided as we start getting a head count. There will also be a form for each player that he will need signed and will pass out to the players for off-season play outside of Winter. CHSAA require anything off season to be run by coaches, but we are always willing to help Jerry send out anything needed to promote year round practice and conditioning.

All open gyms and June Camp dates are found under “events” until summer team rosters are set. Please subscribe to the calendar and RSVP as soon as you can to the summer Camps.

Thanks! Pricing for Summer will be announced in April. If you have any questions, please send me an email at mallen@franpromise.com.

Players and Parents,

As I mentioned at the basketball banquet a few days ago, we are going to start our spring open gym/skill development sessions on Tuesday, April 3rd. We will have three sessions next week –Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 3:30 – 5:15 pm in the Main/Aux gym. The entire schedule for Skill session/Open gyms is attached and on the website.
We have included the incoming 9th grade girls in these Skill session/Open gyms. So, although, the schedule reads 3:30-5:15, our current High school players will Lift or go through our Movement Training from 2:45- 3:15 on these days. Allowing the younger players to arrive.

To comply with CHSAA regulations we form the Warrior Basketball Academy and all of our after-school workouts will be run as part of the Academy again this spring. The fee is $20 ( $1 per OG ), everyone participating needs to pay this to comply, if you can’t pay this for whatever reason please contact me directly to discuss this. I have attached the Academy registration form – it is self-explanatory but if you have questions about it feel free to contact me.

In anticipation of questions from parents, here are some of the most frequently asked questions with the corresponding answers:

1. My daughter is in a spring sport at Arapahoe High School. Should she try to attend the Warrior Basketball Academy workout sessions? No – if your daughter is in a spring sport at Arapahoe she should be focused on that spring sport and she should not be participating in basketball workouts. Exceptions to this would require the approval of her spring sport coach and I do not expect anyone to ask for that approval.
2. My daughter is playing on a club basketball team during the spring. She can attend some of the Warrior Basketball Academy workouts but not all of them. Is that okay? Yes, that is fine. She should discuss her situation with me and then attend the academy workouts as often possible.
3. Is attendance at these spring workouts required for anyone who wants to try out for a summer team? Attendance at these workouts is optional and is not required in order for a player to participate in the spring camp (which serves as the tryouts for the summer teams). However, if your daughter wants to play basketball at Arapahoe and she isn’t doing anything else this spring, why wouldn’t she come to these workouts?
4. Is the schedule for summer leagues, tournaments, and camps finished yet? No not quite yet, Once we decide on the Camps we want to attend we will send emails and Post the schedule on the website. I will be handing out “Commitment” sheets with the summer events/costs on them the 1st week of Open gym workouts, so that players and parents can set their May/June schedules.
5. My daughter is no longer interested in playing basketball at Arapahoe. Why are you sending this email to me? I don’t know for sure who is planning to continue playing basketball at Arapahoe, so this email is being sent to all parents (except the parents of graduating seniors) of players who participated in our basketball program in the 2017-2018 season. If your daughter is no longer interested in playing basketball at Arapahoe, please send a quick reply indicating so.

We are looking forward to a productive spring and summer. This is the time for the players to focus on improving their game! Jerry Knafelc
